Samaria

Samaria Gorge Car Rental at the Best Prices!

Samaria Gorge is situated at an altitude of around 1,200 meters in the White Mountain National Park. It belongs to the regional unit of Chania in southwestern Crete and preserves more than 400 animal and plant species, many of which are endemic to Crete.

The Samaria Gorge is the second longest gorge in Europe, with a total length of 16 kilometers and a width of just 150 meters at the widest point and 3 meters at the narrowest point.

If you travel to Crete and particularly Chania, it’s a beautiful and “must” place to visit. The walk through the National Park of Samaria is 13 kilometers long and takes about 6 to 8 hours before you reach the end of the gorge. But you need to travel three more kilometers if you want to see the shores of the Libyan Sea and the village of Agia Roumeli.

Comfortable footwear and a good level of physical fitness are needed for the path through the gorge. You can go halfway before you reach the village if you don’t want to walk all the way down the gorge, but if you want to make an effort until the end of the gorge, a lovely village awaits you with quiet beaches, and you can spend the night there!

You can rent a car from Kourites Rent a Car in Stalis, Crete, to enter the entrance to Samaria Gorge.
